2008/2009 RHC Season

Update September 22/2008:

1  Team lists have been circulated and Coaches should have contacted their players to confirm first ice time.  PLEASE NOTE THE TEAM LISTS ARE FINAL AND NO CHANGES WILL BE CONSIDERED.

2 Schedules have been posted under Schedules to the Left.

4 There will be no refunds after the first game is played.

Recreational Hockey Calgary is now being run by an all volunteer committee. Over the next year, RHC will be going through the legal process of becoming an association with guidelines and bylaws. This association will be like any other hockey community association and will be run by volunteers. The following volunteers have presently stepped forward for this current year – Craig Robillard President; Phillip Carr Vice –President; Alan Bishop Treasurer; Laurie Remenda Registrar; Heather Thomas Secretary; Janet Hutchison Pee Wee Coordinator; Leslie Warner Midget Coordinator; Brian Pedlar Jr Coordinator.

 

 All information and correspondence pertaining to RHC registration, teams, schedules, tournaments etc. will be through the RHC web site only.  Do not phone Hockey Calgary for RHC business as Hockey Calgary staff will redirect your call to the RHC web site.

 

Registration for 2008-2009 RHC season is now open to past players from the 2007-2008 season from June 20 to July 1. Only after that date will applications for new players to RHC be accepted. Names will be collected and compared against last year’s list.

 

 Only online registrations will be accepted. If you have already sent in a cheque, this form of payment will not be accepted.  Payment will be by MasterCard or Visa only.

 

 Cost for the upcoming season will be $500. This fee will cover the following items: regular season ice, Hockey Calgary Registration fee, referee fees, jerseys, pucks and puck bags, storage, online registration and banking fees. No water bottles will be provided in the future. In order to keep costs down, this will be the last year that RHC wants to buy jerseys in bulk. At the end of the 2008-2009 all jerseys must cleaned, collected and will be placed in storage. If a player’s jersey is not returned at the end of season, they will not be allowed to register for the following season until a $30 fee is paid. .Socks will be bought every year.

 

If there are any RHC jerseys from previous seasons from any division not being used, RHC will appreciate to collect them at the beginning of the 2008-2009 season and will be placed into storage will be  used in the future. As well, the return of pucks and puck bags will be appreciated at the start of the season.

 

For the upcoming 2008-2009 season: 

 

                       - # of teams & # of players similar to past seasons.

 

           - As has been communicated by Hockey Calgary, nights for divisions and

                      arenas similar to past seasons.

 

 - Maximum - 800 RHC players including goalies

 

                          - From past years the league consisted of:

 

-         8 Pee Wee teams:   8 * 14 players = 112 players

-          

-         12 Bantam teams:  12* 15 players = 180 players

-          

-         16 Midget teams:  16 * 15 players = 240 players

-          

-         16 Junior teams:     16* 16 players = 256 players

 

                                              - Based on this years registration numbers and ages of

                                                  Players, this breakdown may change somewhat.

 

                                              -   Total = 788 players; the other 12 players will be

                                                             placed later, probably 3/division

 

-         There is a box on the registration form to fill in with your list of friends. RHC will try to accommodate when drafting the teams. Please list in order of preference.

 

-         The registration process will cut off the # of goalies per division as the position is filled of 1 per team. Please make sure that you place your player’s name on the waiting list and also email RHC.

 

-         Fill in the volunteer category either for division coordinator, coach, asst. coach, team jersey coordinator and division equipment manager as RHC only works by your efforts. Teams formed with no coach  volunteer will not be allowed on the ice until a volunteer(s) comes forward for that team

 

-         after July 1 new players to RHC will be accepted

 

-         Please print off a copy of the final payment statement for your records for CRA – child fitness credit.

 

-         RHC has a return policy of full refund before the first scheduled league game has been played. There will be no refund afterwards.

 

-         No payment by cheques will be accepted.

 

-         A coaches & asst. coaches meeting will be held in September.

 

-         Team list will be sent out in late September.
